Description:

Typhoid fever is a bacterial infection caused by Gram-negative bacteria of the Salmonella typhi species. Typhoid infections are characterized by persistent high fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and a rash. Typhoid fever can cause serious complications, including: persistent high fever that may last for weeks or months. 

It is a serious bacterial infection caused by a bacterium called Salmonella typhi and is easily spread through contaminated water and food. It is contagious and can be spread through direct contact with an infected person. Symptoms may appear 1 to 2 weeks after infection. Symptoms of typhoid fever include weakness, high fever, abdominal pain, headache, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and constipation. Treatment includes antibiotics. However, typhoid fever can be prevented by vaccination.

This vaccine contains sterile solution containing Vi capsular polysaccharide of salmonella enterica serovar typhi type2 strain.

Method of Administration:

Administered through Intramuscular Route

 

Dosage: 

Typhoid Vaccine should be Injected 0.5 mL intramuscularly, Primary Series (first dose): 1 dose (0.5mL) in children 2 years of age and above, and adults. Reimmunization is recommended every 2 years, with a single dose, for travelers with repeated or continued exposure to S. typhi.

Presentation:

  • Type 1 glass vial and Pre-filled syringe.

  • Single dose Vial: 0.5 mL

  • Single dose PFS: 0.5 mL

  • Multidose Vial: 2.5 mL

  • Multidose Vial: 5.0 mL

Possible Side Effects:

Common side effects of Typhoid vaccine may include pain, redness, or swelling at place of injection, fever, headache, and muscle pain.

​

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity may be caused to any constituent of the vaccine, pregnant and Lactating women and during or during some severe infection.

​

Shelf Life:

Product is good to use for 36 months from the date of manufacture.

 

Storage:

Store at +2° C to +8° C.
